Editorial Work – Coffee drive throughs for Edible Inland Northwest

I consider myself a street photographer. In other words, I like to photograph candid scenes of real life. Street photographs are, in my admittedly biased opinion, one of the best ways to document history and often times go unappreciated until decades have passed. Beyond its artistic and historical merits, the candid approach to street photography can be applied to several situations such as weddings, family photos, and editorial work for magazines or newspapers.

A couple of years ago, my street photography style earned me an editorial job for a local food magazine, Edible Inland Northwest. The editor was planning a coffee issue and asked me to take an assignment photographing coffee drive throughs in Eastern Washington and North Idaho. Take a few road trips, make some photographs, and drink coffee? This was a dream assignment! As a street photographer, I hope my images help tell a story about people and places. Drive throughs and coffee are very much a part of the culture of the Inland Northwest.
